Two people are dead after an Alfred Street house fire Friday afternoon. Barrie police have confirmed that one man was found dead at the scene, and another man succumbed to his injuries at the local hospital. When Barrie firefighters arrived at the home around 4 p.m. they found the house in flames. The single storey home, not far from Anne Street South, was destroyed, causing about $500,000 in damage, said Barrie Fire Chief Kevin White. “The cause or origin is unknown at this time,” White said, adding, the Office of the Fire Marshal has been called to investigate.
