Children’s hospital holds ceremony to support paediatric cancer funding

The London Children’s hospital commemorated Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a handprint ceremony.

The Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre commemorated Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a handprint ceremony.

In collaboration with Hyundai, which runs a program called Hope on Wheels to support funding for paediatric cancer, young cancer patients dipped their hands in paint and left their mark on a pair of Hyundai SUVs.

The event was part of a Hyundai initiative called Hope on Wheels, which raises funding for paediatric cancer. Hyundai Canada donated $100,000, while local Finch Hyundai donated an extra $40,000.

Not only did the event raise money for cancer awareness month, but it celebrated oncology health care providers at the hospital.

“I think we need to applaud them for a great celebratory day, but recognizing there’s a lot of hard days in between,” said Dr. Alexandra Zorzi, Division Chair of Paediatric Hematology Oncology.

“So I thank everyone that identifies themselves as being a part of our team on pediatric oncology today.”
