CCH celebrates its 75th anniversary with a homecoming this Saturday

One of London’s most storied high schools is marking its 75th Anniversary this Saturday.

Catholic Central High School (CCH) will host a series of events this Saturday for current and former staff and students, including a commemorative service, campus tours and showcases of school history.

First up is a noon-hour mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by an open house at the school from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

It will feature not only tours, but a chance to relive the past.

“There’s going to be tons of archival footage, photography. We’re going to have videos constantly being played in the background with that archival footage,” explained organizer Brandon Heessels, who attended CCH for two years in the 2010s.

Many of the memories will touch on school milestones, academic achievements, famous alumni, sports dominance, music and faith visits.

“Our choir traveled to Rome and sang in a personal audience with the Pope twice. We put on major school productions,” said the main organizer, and 1990s graduate Stephen Legresley.

But the memories extend beyond the campus.

Through the decades, CCH students have raised funds and volunteered to help London.

“It is usually CCH that you’re going to see on the front lines as far as contribution, and as far as achievements in general,” stated Heessels.

“It’s such a wonderful spirit that the school has and the attitude it has,” echoed Legresley.

The reunion will conclude with evening social events off campus.
