Man charged after bar altercation leaves victim seriously hurt

A man has been charged after an altercation at a Guelph bar left another person with serious injuries.

Police said the incident happened Saturday at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the area of Woodlawn Road West.

“Investigation revealed a man had become involved in a verbal dispute with two others inside the business,” police said in a media release. “During the dispute, a 21-year-old Mississauga man was struck in the face and knocked unconscious. He was transported to hospital for treatment of serious head and facial injuries. A second man sustained minor facial injuries.”

A 20-year-old man from Georgetown has been arrested and is facing charges of assault and aggravated assault.
