Charges for man seen sleeping behind the wheel of self-driving Tesla

Guelph Police say a man was asleep behind the wheel while his Tesla self-drove on the Hanlon Expressway.

The incident was reported to police on Saturday at around 6:30 p.m.

“An officer located the vehicle driving on the Hanlon near Speedvale Avenue and confirmed the driver was asleep,” a media release said.

Police shared no further details about the man’s arrest.

The 60-year-old from New York was charged with careless driving.
