Two people arrested in connection to car theft in New Hamburg

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two men who were allegedly involved in a car theft in New Hamburg.

Police say on Feb. 16, around 3:30 a.m., a man was seen on camera stealing a car near Theodore Schuler Boulevard.

Later that same morning, a stolen debit card was used at a local retailer.

A 30-year-old man from New Hamburg was arrested on Feb. 20 and charged with fraud under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation order.

A second arrest was made on April 13. Police said a 31-year-old man from Tavistock was charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, six counts of operation while prohibited, six counts of driving with a suspended licence, and having unauthorized plates.
