Two men arrested following repeated wire thefts at Brantford construction site

Brantford Police say two men are accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of electrical wiring from a secured construction site.

Officers were called to Erie Avenue around 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Investigators learned the site had been targeted multiple times earlier in the week, with the suspects climbing a locked perimeter fence to remove wiring and other materials, causing significant delays to the construction schedule.

Police obtained suspect descriptions and later located two men behind a nearby scrap metal facility at 8:33 a.m. The men were allegedly had the stolen wiring on them. Both were arrested without incident.

Police said break-and-enter tools, clothing worn during the thefts and other items linked to the crimes were recovered during the subsequent search.

A 48-year-old man and a 42-year-old man are facing multiple charges including break-and-enter with intent, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments and three counts of failing to comply with probation.
