Another round of wet and windy weather is on the way to the Maritimes Sunday. Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for parts of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Nova Scotia Approximately 25 to 40 mm of rainfall is forecast for Mainland Nova Scotia Sunday. Environment Canada said wet snow may mix in at times over higher elevations but is not expected to accumulate. Thunderstorms may also develop. Environment Canada said potential wind gusts will range between 60 to 80 km/h, first from the east and then becoming northerly Sunday night. Strong southwesterly winds are expected along parts of the Eastern Shore Sunday night. The system is expected to begin Sunday and last until early Monday morning. New Brunswick Southern and eastern areas of New Brunswick are under a special weather statement. Approximately 25 to 40 mm of rainfall is expected, though higher amounts are possible. Wind gusts could reach 70 km/h from the north. The system is expected to last most of the day Sunday and into the evening. “There is some uncertainty as to where the highest rainfall amounts will occur, but the potential exists for significant totals over some locations near the Fundy coast,” said Environment Canada. Wet snow may also mix in at times. Prince Edward Island As of 11:30 a.m. Saturday, no weather alerts were in effect for Prince Edward Island.
