Police searching for people involved in Kitchener shooting

Gunshots rang out at a Kitchener plaza on Tuesday night.

At least three bullets hit the front door and windows of the Hasty Market convenience store at Wilson Avenue and Kingsway Drive.

“I was out on the balcony, having a smoke about 9:30 p.m.,” explained neighbour Randy Oliver. “All of a sudden I see police cars go flying down the road.”

Waterloo regional police said one person who was injured left the scene of the shooting. They couldn’t confirm how seriously he was hurt.

Police are calling it a targeted incident and said multiple people were involved in the shooting.

They’re also looking for a white Dodge Durango SUV.

CTV News requested an interview with police Wednesday but no one was available.

They provided a release which said, in part: “Details of individuals and their involvement are still being gathered. As a service, we recognize the impact gun violence has on the community. Waterloo regional police takes these types of calls very seriously.”

“The whole City of Kitchener has gone to hell,” Oliver said. “Hope they find the people and actually put them in jail.”

The convenience store reopened Wednesday afternoon. The owners also declined an interview request from CTV News.
