One person arrested after impaired driving investigation at Brantford business

A female is facing multiple criminal and provincial charges following an impaired driving investigation at a Brantford business.

Brantford Police say officers were called to a local business on Saturday after receiving a report of a vehicle parked in an accessible parking space without authorization.

When officers arrived, they found a female asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Police said further investigation led to her arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drugs.

During the investigation, officers seized an unauthorized firearm as well as evidence consistent with drug trafficking.

Police also determined the female was on a release related to previous criminal charges and was in breach of her release conditions.

As a result of the impaired driving investigation, the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Officers determined the female was not licensed to operate a motor vehicle.

In addition to criminal charges, the accused is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act, the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, the Cannabis Control Act and the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
