A fire sent large plumes of smoke into the air in the city’s northwest Sunday afternoon. The blaze broke out in the Citadel neighbourhood around 3 p.m. Sunday. Crews arrived about five minutes later to a home on Citadel Meadow Bay. Heavy flames and smoke greeted arriving crews, with flames spreading to homes on both sides of the first house involved. The fire was contained to the three homes, but the main home was destroyed. Fire investigators will have to determine whether the other two homes are habitable. Four people were evacuated and nobody was injured. The cause of the fire will be investigated once it’s extinguished.
