‘Magic mushroom shop’ in Brantford shut down

Another “magic mushroom” shop has been shuttered by the police.

The Brantford Police Service said officers seized more than $17,000 in psilocybin (which is commonly referred to as ‘magic mushrooms’) and other illegal substances after searching a business on Friday.

Police confirmed the store had previously been raided and shut down several times and had since re-opened on Colborne Street.

Approximately $14,365 worth of psilocybin and associated products, $2,140 worth of LSD, $975 of dimethylamine and $905 in unmarked cigarettes were seized.

A 35-year-old man from Hamilton was charged with possession of psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of dimethyltryptamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) for the purpose of trafficking, and possessing unmarked cigarettes for sale.

Psilocybin is still illegal in Canada.
