Kitchener Rangers take Game 4 of Western Conference final

The Kitchener Rangers are now one win away from becoming this season’s OHL Western Conference champions.

They faced the Windsor Spitfires at the WFCU Centre on Wednesday.

A pair of powerplay goals from Dylan Edwards and Sam O’Reilly gave the Rangers an early lead coming out of the first period.

Cameron Arquette and Carson Campbell added two more to the tally, leaving the Spitfires trailing 4 – 0 going into the final period.

But the Spitfires came back with a fire in their bellies; Nathan Villeneuve and Anthony Cristoforo both scored for Windsor within the first six minutes of the third period.

Not to be outdone, Kitchener’s Luca Romano put away a shorthanded goal followed by an empty netter from Gabriel Chiarot to widen the gap in the Rangers’ favour.

Caden Harvey snuck one more goal in for Windsor, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Rangers took the matchup 6 – 3, giving them a 3 – 1 lead on the series.

The series heads to the Kitchener Memorial Arena on Friday when the Rangers will have a chance to close out the series, and punch their ticket to the OHL finals, in front of their hometown faithful.
