Hamilton man arrested after gun fired outside Brantford motel

A Hamilton man is facing several weapons charges as part of a shooting investigation in Brantford.

Brantford Police Service officers were called to the Sherwood Motel on Colborne Street on March 13 around 12:30 a.m. after a gunshot was heard.

Police said two people had been at the motel and one of them had fired off a shot in the parking lot before driving off in a vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

On May 13, police searched a home on Allan Avenue in Hamilton and arrested a 48-year-old man.

During the search, investigators said they found 95.7 grams of cocaine, 26.7 grams of fentanyl, a 9mm round and cash. The fentanyl is worth approximately $2,670 while the cocaine is worth approximately $9,570 on the street.

The Hamilton man has been charged with discharging a restricted firearm with intent, assault with weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Police are still trying to identify and find a second suspect.
