Drug charges laid in fire that destroyed Plattsville building

Police have laid two drug-related charges against a Cambridge man in connection with a massive fire in Plattsville.

On Boxing Day, a two-storey building on Albert Street was destroyed by the fire – which also caused the evacuation of about 30 nearby homes.

Neighbours said they hadn’t seen anybody using the building, most recently occupied by a roofing company, in months.

Oxford County OPP say while responding to the fire, they suspected a marijuana grow-op was housed in the building/

Executing a search warrant inside the building the following day, police say they found marijuana plants and processed marijuana.

Brandon Pfeiffer, 28, faces charges of producing and possessing marijuana.

The Office of the Fire Marshal continues to investigate the fire.
