A head-on collision left three people dead—two adults and one child—on Friday afternoon in the municipality of Lantier, in the Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides area. Police were called to the scene of the accident shortly after 4 p.m. The head-on collision, which involved two vehicles, occurred at the intersection of Rolland-Cloutier Boulevard and Chemin du Lac Dufresne. A vehicle traveling northbound reportedly attempted to pass on the left to avoid a vehicle turning right in front of it, explained Geneviève Bruneau, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). It then reportedly struck another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, heading south. The people killed in the accident were the three occupants of the vehicle that was struck. According to police, the driver of the vehicle that attempted to pass also sustained injuries, but they are not life-threatening. The road is currently closed to traffic at Chemin de la Montagne Noire, and a detour has been set up by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility. An SQ accident reconstruction specialist was scheduled to visit the scene to better understand the causes and circumstances of the incident.
