Saskatchewan’s tornado count is now up to 32 after two more were confirmed by the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP). The NTP says the two tornadoes occurred on Friday, July 10, and were both rated as EF-O. The first one touched down near Prud’Homme, northeast of Saskatoon around 5:35 p.m. Friday. There was an estimated maximum wind speed of 90 km/h, track length of 1.79 kilometres and maximum path width of 50 metres. The second was near Plunkett, southeast of Saskatoon, around 5:40 p.m. There was an estimated maximum wind speed of 115 km/h, track length of 2.16 kilometres and maximum path width of 250 metres. Both tornadoes caused minor damage, throwing some trees, fences and other debris. The second tornado had higher wind speeds and sent an unanchored grain bin rolling about 185 metres into a nearby pond. No injuries were reported from either tornado.
