Dellen Millard, Mark Smich both appealing murder convictions

CTV Kitchener: Millard, Smich appealing Dellen Millard's lawyer says his client, like Mark Smich, will appeal his conviction for the murder of Tim Bosma.

The two men convicted of killing Tim Bosma will both be appealing their convictions for first-degree murder.

Smich signalled his intention to appeal last month, shortly after he was found guilty, while Millard’s lawyer confirmed his client’s intent to appeal Monday.

A four-month trial ended in June with Smich and Millard both being convicted of killing Bosma, who disappeared from his home in the Ancaster area of Hamilton in May 2013.

Both were sentenced to life in prison, with no chance to apply for parole until 2038.

Court heard that Smich and Millard took Bosma along on a test drive of a truck he was selling, then killed him while in the truck – in a murder the Crown claimed had been planned for a year in advance.

Bosma’s remains were burned in an incinerator Millard had in a hangar at the Region of Waterloo International Airport, which was then taken to a Millard-owned farm property on Roseville Road in North Dumfries.
