Brantford man dies after vehicle crashes into hydro pole

One person is dead after a crash involving a hydro pole in Brantford.

Brantford Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a fatal crash.

On Tuesday, around 10:38 a.m., a vehicle hit a hydro pole at North Park Street and Charing Cross Street. The vehicle then entered the intersection where it was involved in a second collision.

Video from the scene showed a dark-coloured vehicle with extensive front-end damage, and an orange-coloured pickup truck stopped nearby with damage on its driver’s side.

Police said a Brantford man in his 70s was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the other vehicle was not seriously hurt.

No further details have been release at this time.

Police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to both collisions. They are asking witnesses, or anyone who was in the area and has dash cam video, to contact the Brantford Police Service.
