A water leak near a major Old Strathcona intersection forced several businesses to close Tuesday night. Utility provider Epcor told CTV News Edmonton its crews responded to a water leak near 104 Street and Whyte Avenue at around 6 p.m. On Wednesday, Epcor said 11 customers were affected and had their water restored in less than two hours. Saylish Haas told CTV News Edmonton five restaurants she co-owns – Meat, The Next Act, Marlo Tacos, Pip and Pals Sandwiches – were forced to close Tuesday night. Epcor said the source of the leak was a break on a hydrant line, not a water main as it initially said Tuesday. Crews will complete the repairs “soon,” Epcor added, and it does not anticipate the work will impact businesses again.
