Despite recent months of heavy rain, organizers of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival say setup is on track and they’ll be welcoming attendees to the hill Thursday. “It’s been a lot of work. Our site crews have been heroes,” said festival producer Terry Wickham. “We’re a little bit behind, but nothing serious. We’re not in danger of not getting the show up on time.” Crews have been busy levelling out the grounds at Gallagher Park which have become saturated with nearly two feet of rain. While volunteer applications are closed for the festival, Wickham said they are welcoming additional help from people with specific skills like plumbing, electrical work and forklift driving. “If you have specialized skills, all the better,” said Wickham. Edmonton is expected to see some showers on Saturday and Sunday, but the forecast isn’t looking too extreme. But Wickham recommends coming to the festival prepared with rain gear and heavier footwear just to be safe. Tickets for the festival are sold out with the exception of a few single-day passes for Thursday.
