City accepting applications for Indigenous Artist-in-Residence for 2026-27

The City of Edmonton is making a call out to all Indigenous artists to have a chance to publicly display their work and show off their talents.

Applications are now open for the 2026-27 Indigenous Artist-in-Residence Program.

Artists working across disciplines including traditional and contemporary Indigenous arts, fine craft, media arts, music, performing arts, visual arts and literary arts are eligible to apply.

The artist chosen will get to create a new body of work during the residency and share it through a final public showcase. They will also receive a dedicated workspace provided by the city along with opportunities to contribute to public programming.

The one-year, part-time residency offers a total compensation of $36,000. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Applications close May 20 at noon. They can be submitted through the Edmonton Arts Council website.
