You can take a guided photo walk through Banff this weekend

Photographer Kristian Bogner joins Ian White to discuss his upcoming guided photo walk in Banff as part of the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival.

You’ll find plenty of stunning images at the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival this week, but award-winning photographer Kristian Bogner wants to encourage you to capture your own.

On Saturday, Nov. 8, Bogner is taking budding shutterbugs on a Nikon photo walk through Banff, and while he emphasizes how helpful a proper DSLR camera is taking photos, you can also use your phone too.

“It opens the door for them to ignite their passion for photography, which is a good thing,” Bogner told CTV News.

He received the prestigious Yousuf Karsh Lifetime Achievement Award from the Professional Photographers of Canada Association.

Bogner admits timing is often key for a great shot, and that includes capturing a mountain landscape at sunrise or sunset.

“Often we get something really special out here – which is the alpenglow – which makes those mountains kind of red and it just adds this colour contrast and colour dynamic to the photographs,” Bogner said.

The photo walk is free, but you’re asked to register ahead of time.
