Rocky View County says it wants to hear from residents from Harmony and Langdon about the possible use of golf carts on certain roads, not exceeding 50 kilometres per hour. Rocky View is looking to follow the lead of towns like Coaldale, who was one of the first to jump on board with a provincial program allowing municipalities to grant limited use of golf carts on residential streets. Sylvan Lake has also introduced a pilot project that runs from April to September. “Our discussions with the other municipalities that have engaged in the pilot program have helped us shape our survey and the feedback that were hoping to get from our residents,” said the municipality’s Manager of Enforcement Services Lorraine Wesley-Riley. Linden, Lacombe, Whispering Hills, Delburne, Acme and Half Moon Bay have all approved the use of golf carts. One Calgary business that sells custom golf carts sees this as a great opportunity. “We have carts in campground residential areas, so this would be just a further expansion in that market for us,” said Thad Klassen of Oakcreek Golf and Turf. Rocky View County says any of their communities who want to take part in the survey can go to engage.rockyview.ca to share their thoughts. The survey closes April 30th.
