Man dies after falling into Elbow River

A man has died in hospital after he fell into the frigid waters of the Elbow River on Wednesday night. Police are calling it a tragic accident.

Calgary Police are calling an incident where a man slipped and fell into the Elbow River a tragic accident.

At about 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a passerby saw a man fall into the water.

He tried to rescue him from the frigid water and was able to get him partially out.

He then ran for help.

He was rushed to hospital, but he died early Thursday morning.
