Labour pains: Construction set to impact long weekend travel on Calgary roads

Construction crews remove the Flanders Avenue overpass at Crowchild Trail on Friday morning

Calgarians can expect to encounter traffic delays throughout the city over the next three days as construction crews will be out en force during the unofficial end to the road work season.

The City of Calgary has released the following list of Labour Day weekend construction projects.

Northeast:

Edmonton Trail near 4 Ave. N.E. (utility work)

Madigan Drive N.E. at 52 Avenue (water services)

Northwest:

10 Street N.W. at 2 Ave. N.W. (utility work)

Eastbound Beddington Trail N.W. at Hidden Valley Link (sound barrier installation)

Eastbound John Laurie Blvd. N.W at McKnight Blvd. (concrete work)

Symons Valley Road N.W between 144 Ave. and Sage Hill Drive (construction of new road)

Southeast:

Northbound Macleod Trail between 18 Ave. S.E. and 10 Ave. S.E. (paving)

50 Avenue S.E. Between Barlow Trail and 25 Street (paving)

Glenmore Trail at 11 St. S.E. (paving)

3 Ave S.E. closed between Centre and 1 Street (water utility work)

94 Ave S.E between 52 St and 68 St (road construction)

Southwest:

Crowchild Trail/ Flanders Avenue interchange (bridge removal)

Sarcee Trail S.W. between 17 Ave and Richmond Road (paving)

5 Street S.W. between 6 Ave and 8 Ave (deep utility work)

6 Avenue S.W between 1 St and 2 St (construction)

2 Avenue S.W. closed between 5 St and 6 St (construction)

8 Avenue S.W. between 8 St and 11 St (installation of on-street parking)
