Ontario Provincial Police say a man has died after a canoe he was in capsized on Upper Rideau Lake near Westport. Police say first responders were called to a marine distress call involving a capsized canoe on the lake shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday. A 24-year-old man from Brampton was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police say he was not wearing a personal flotation device. A postmortem examination will be conducted. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to contact OPP. Upper Rideau Lake is located approximately 55 kilometres northeast of Kingston and 125 kilometres southwest of downtown Ottawa.
