Alberta SPCA seizes 200 dogs from Milk River home

The Alberta SPCA has seized 200 dogs from a home in Milk River in December 2014 and earlier this month. The owner of the dogs is likely facing charges.

Officials with the Alberta SPCA say they are dealing with the largest dog hoarding case in their history as 200 dogs have been removed from a Milk River home.

In December 2014, 60 dogs were voluntarily surrendered by the owner.

Earlier this month, SPCA officers forcibly removed another 141 dogs from the home, some of which were in horrendous condition.

They say the majority of the dogs were extremely emaciated, dehydrated, and malnourished. They were also stricken with numerous injuries and parasites.

All of the dogs are currently in possession of the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society who will work to find them homes.

The owner of the animals engaged in an appeal process but was unsuccessful in recovering them.

There is no word on charges against the owner so far.
