A 35-year-old man is dead after cliff jumping into water in southern Alberta’s Foothills County, RCMP say. Okotoks Mounties were called to reports of a missing swimmer in De Winton, Alta., just after noon on Saturday. Witnesses said the man, who was a resident of Mexico, jumped into the water from a cliff and didn’t resurface. Local emergency crews and a Calgary Police HAWCS helicopter were able to find the man’s body in the water. His body was taken to the office of the chief medical examiner. Mounties said there would be no further updates and was “strongly urging” people to avoid cliff jumping due to the risk of underwater rocks and strong currents that may not be visible from the surface. De Winton is approximately 30 kilometres south of Calgary.
