A Salvation Army Thrift Store that has been a fixture in Barrie for more than 30 years is preparing to move. The store has operated at 11 Essa Road since May 1995, making the upcoming relocation the end of a decades-long run at the site. Over the years, it has been a familiar stop for people looking for second-hand clothing, household items and other donated goods in the city’s south end. The Salvation Army announced in early August that the thrift store would be relocating, with details about its future home to be released once plans were finalized. In its latest update, staff said the store will remain open throughout September, and donations will continue to be accepted at the current location. “We are so excited to take you all along on this new journey with us,” the organization said on social media. According to its latest post, the new store will be housed at 250 Innisfil Street, just blocks away from the existing location. A final closing date for the Essa Road store has not been announced, and an official opening date for its new home has yet to be made public.
