The secret is out and it’s going to be a “Fine” weekend. The City of Ottawa has announced local singer/songwriter Jamie Fine is the surprise headliner for the Ottawa 200 Block Party at Marion Dewar Plaza, celebrating the city’s 200th birthday. “Known for deeply personal songs that connect with audiences around the world, Jamie has built a loyal fan base through music that is honest, relatable and unforgettable,” the City of Ottawa said in a news release. “With nearly 1.5 million followers worldwide, more than 100 million streams and four Juno nominations, Jamie brings star power and a captivating live performance to Ottawa’s milestone celebration.” Fine will perform at 8:15 p.m. The free, all-ages event at Ottawa City Hall will include live music, cultural programming, hands-on activities, a foodie zone with on-site vendors and a beer garden. The Family Zone will include OC Transpo exploring Ottawa’s transit history, interactive games with WaterAid Canada, the Ottawa Art Gallery, the Ottawa Horticultural Society, the City of Ottawa Archives colouring station, St. John Ambulance with first aid awareness and more. The Ottawa 200 Block Party is one of several events taking place this weekend as part of celebrations of the 200th anniversary of Bytown. OC Transpo and Para Transpo service will be free all weekend and will be hosting other events this weekend.
