N.S. man arrested on child luring and sexual abuse material charges: RCMP

A 31-year-old man from River Bourgeois has been charged on child luring and child sexual abuse and exploitation material offences.

An electronic service provider sent information to police in June indicating a man had communicated online with multiple youths for a sexual purpose.

Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Church Point Road on Wednesday, according to an RCMP news release on Friday.

The province’s internet child exploitation unit, RCMP digital forensic services and Richmond County RCMP executed the search.

As a result of the investigation, Robert Steven Digout has been charged with:

• two counts of luring a child
• making written child sexual abuse and exploitation material
• two counts of accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material

He has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury provincial court on Dec. 10.

Investigators say there may be additional victims who were targeted online and encourage parents to speak with their kids about online safety.
