Provinces invests $1M in Parry Sound boat manufacturer

One million dollars worth of provincial investment is on its way Parry Sound’s Connor Industries.

The company makes custom aluminium boats under the name Stanley, that are used by emergency responders around the Simcoe Muskoka area and in other parts of the world.

“In a small town like Parry Sound, support of this size makes a real and immediate difference,” said Gerry Ramsay, Executive Vice President of Connor Industries, via a statement.

“It helps create good local jobs, strengthens our business and allows us to invest in equipment that supports long-term growth. Most importantly, it keeps opportunity here in our community and contributes directly to the local economy,” Ramsay said.

The investment in Connor Industries is a fraction of a $90 million investment the province announced Wednesday through its Ontario Shipbuilding Grant Program (OSGP) aimed at increasing the capacity of Ontario’s shipbuilding industry.

The provincial government claims the funding will be used for skills training, infrastructure improvements, and new machinery and equipment at the various facilities receiving the investment.
