Two people, including a wanted man, were arrested for impaired driving following separate incidents in Cape Breton Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Dispute in Lick-A-Treat parking lot Cape Breton Regional Police responded to the parking lot of the A&K Lick-A-Treat in Florence, N.S., around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports that two women in a vehicle were involved in a dispute. “On arrival, the two persons had already been separated; officers located alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle and observed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver,” said police in a news release Tuesday. The 30-year-old woman was arrested and allegedly refused a breath sample. She is facing charges of impaired driving and refusal of a breath demand. She was released and is due to appear in Sydney provincial court in September. The second woman, also a 30-year-old woman, was arrested for allegedly breaching several previous court-ordered conditions. She was due to appear in court on Wednesday. Wanted man arrested after crash Five hours later, around 1:30 a.m., Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a single-vehicle collision on the Louisbourg Highway. Police found a vehicle in the ditch and the driver with an injured leg. “While assisting the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and further determined he was the subject of an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court, in breach of several conditions of his previous court-ordered release and was driving with a revoked drivers licence and invalid licence plates and insurance,” said Cape Breton Regional Police. The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, where a blood sample was taken. The 27-year-old man is due to appear in Sydney provincial court in September to face charges of impaired driving and five breaches of conditions.
