Oro-Medonte boat launch repaired after recent storm wreck

A weekend of heavy rain and strong winds along Lake Simcoe resulted in shoreline damage in Oro-Medonte.

On Sunday, the township issued a public notice confirming that the Line 9 boat launch had sustained “significant damage” due to high winds and waves.

Municipal officials told CTV News that the dock opened Friday prior to the Victoria Day long weekend.

Images shared on the town’s official social media account showed that parts of the dock were missing decking and had exposed metal framework.

On Monday, crews were observed at the site, fixing the wreckage. The township says the boat launch has since reopened.
