OPP: four separate incidents of drivers going 50 over

Provincial police are urging residents and visitors to slow down. Police say since July 1, they have charged four separate drivers with stunt driving.

Many of those drivers were going at least 50 km/h over the posted limit.

OPP say on July 1, a Brampton driver was stopped on County Road 109 in Amaranth, Ont. and charged with stunt driving as he was allegedly travelling at 132 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

On July 8, OPP laid a charge of stunt driving on an Ajax man, who was allegedly travelling at 116 km/h in a posted 60 km/h in Melancthon Twp. Ont. along County Road 17.

The following day, also in Melancthon, police say a Mississauga driver was charged with stunt driving for allegedly travelling at 116 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on 3rd Line.

On July 9, a North York driver was allegedly travelling at 132 km/h on Melancthon’s Highway 10, a posted 80 km/h. OPP say that driver was also charged with stunt driving.

Police say in each stunt driving incident, the vehicles were towed from the scene and impounded as required under provincial legislation.
