Ottawa police are looking for a suspect after a taxi driver was assaulted and robbed in the city’s west end. The taxi driver was dispatched to the 1100 block of Meadowlands Drive for a pickup at approximately 3 p.m. Friday, June 19. “Once on scene, the driver was assaulted by an unknown male passenger,” police said in a media release. “The man then entered the taxi and stole cash before fleeing the area.” Police say the suspect is described as a man in his late 20s or 30s, approximately 190 to 200 lbs. with dark hair worn in a short ponytail and a short dark beard. “At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants, and white Adidas running shoes.
