Man seriously hurt after canoe tips over waterfall

OPP say several experienced ATV operators were riding in the Trent Lakes area and realized one was missing.

A man went over a waterfall in his canoe outside an Alton restaurant July 12, 2013 and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Caledon emergency responders say the man was in the canoe with a woman, who was able to get out without injury. For some reason, police say, the canoe was too close to the edge and then went over.

The 43-year-old Burlington man was taken to Headwaters Health Care Centre with life-threatening injuries and has been transferred to a trauma centre.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
