Jackknifed tractor trailer shuts down Highway 11 in Orillia overnight

A stretch of Highway 11 in Orillia was closed in both directions Thursday after a tractor trailer jackknifed in the early hours of the morning.

According to provincial police, the southbound lanes were shut down at Old Barrie Road East, while northbound traffic was halted at Memorial Avenue.

Police reported that no injuries were sustained in the crash.

Late-night drivers were advised to avoid the area as officers and emergency crews worked to clear the road.

In an update issued at 1:39 a.m., over social media, OPP said one lane had reopened in each direction between Old Barrie Road East and Memorial Avenue.

It is unclear how the collision happened. No further details were provided.
