Ice fishing championship on Lake Simcoe

CTV Barrie: Ice fishing championships More than 100 anglers were at Jackson's Point on Lake Simcoe this weekend for the Canadian Ice Fishing Championships.

A huge ice fishing tournament was held at Jackson’s Point on Lake Simcoe and anglers from all across Canada and the U.S. took part.

There was perfect weather on both Saturday and Sunday for the 20^th annual Canadian Ice Fishing Championships. Fifty-five teams signed up to fish over the weekend.

This year’s tournament included the deep water lake trout and whitefish on Saturday, followed by the perch fish in shallower water on Sunday.

The tournament offered up more than $30,000 worth of cash and prizes for anglers who could catch the biggest fish.
