Barrie police reported a successful capturing of two aggressive dogs by distracting them with treats. According to the service, officers were called to a 10 a.m. report on Friday about a man who was bitten by a dog in an Essa Road parking lot. The pair of canines aggressively approached the 32-year-old man and backed him into a parked car, when one of them reportedly bit his leg. Police say responding officers saw one of the dogs run across the street and almost got hit by oncoming traffic. The dogs were then found by officers in an Essa Road driveway, where police say they continued behaving aggressively. “Fortunately, one of the officers came prepared – with dog treats,” said Barrie police in a news release. “The officers were able to safely encourage the animals into an area at the back of the property where Animal Control Services was contacted. Bylaw officers arrived and secured the dogs using catch poles.” The service adds that police have tried contacting the owner(s) of the dogs but have not been able to reach them. Bylaw officers have now taken over the investigation.
