Barrie Colts look to bounce back after game 3 loss as series shifts to Ottawa

Barrie Colts play the Ottawa 67s tonight.

The Barrie Colts and Ottawa 67’s are set to face off for game 4 of the second round of the OHL Playoffs Thursday night at TD Place Arena in Ottawa.

After winning games one and two at home, the Colts dropped game 3 to the 67’s, 5-2.

Colts head coach Dylan Smoskowitz said the team will need to stick to the game plan if they want to take a commanding series lead.

“We just want to continue to build off good shifts that just continue to win the game shift by shift by shift, not think about the end result, just think about winning our shift,” said Smoskowitz.

The Colts started game 3 on the right side on a goal by Calvin Crombie halfway through the first period before the 67’s took over in the second, scoring three unanswered.

Smoskowitz added playing on the road is tough, and the team will need to support one another while in enemy territory, building off energy they create themselves.

“You’re playing in front of a crowd that’s against you, and there’s a lot of energy throughout the building that’s going toward the opposition,” said Smoskowitz. “But something that I take a lot of pride in and I really enjoy being around is the way that our guys create our own energy from our bench.”

Game 3’s hot start proved not enough to secure the victory, with Smoskowitz explaining how the team needs to play a complete 60 minutes.

“The real importance of tonight’s game and what our group is really focused on is a full consistent 60-minute effort,” said Smoskowitz.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at TD Place Arena in Ottawa.
