A new pilot program will allow Nova Scotia hunters, guides and trappers to buy most licences online. The program, run through HuntNS, will offer the licences for base hunting, small fur-bearing animals and game birds. Other online licences will include fur harvesting for animals like beavers, raccoons and foxes, and annual commercial guides, according to the provincial government. Deer and bear licences will not be included in the program due to physical harvest tag requirements and associated operational considerations. “Making licences available online is not only convenient for Nova Scotians who hunt, it will also reduce administrative burden for those working in this sector and helps make Nova Scotia a more attractive destination for non-residents planning hunting trips,” said Tory Rushton, minister of natural resources, in a news release.
