Halifax police still investigating 45-year-old homicide

The Halifax Regional Police is still investigating the 45-year-old homicide of Vincent “Hank” Pius Griffin.

Police say they found a man slumped across the front seat of a vehicle that was left running outside 2454 John St. in Halifax around 8:05 a.m. on June 30, 1981. The man was Griffin, 43, and he was dead.

People had spotted Griffin’s maroon 1977 Dodge two-door hardtop in the area shortly after midnight that day.

“Investigators believe that there are people who have information that could help solve Vincent’s homicide,” a news release from Halifax police reads. “Investigators hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know.

“The smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.”

Griffin’s case is also part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes program, which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of people responsible for major unsolved crimes.
