Cape Breton Regional Police (CBRP) are investigating a fire and the discovery of a body at a property in MacAdams Lake, N.S. Police responded to a missing person complaint in the area of the 2500 to 3000 block of Beechmont Road on Friday. The person was last heard from on July 22. When officers attended the scene, they found a residence that had been destroyed by fire. No reports were made to fire services about the incident. During the investigation, officers found a dead person on the property. They notified the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner and the Office of the Fire Marshal. Forensic analysts, fire marshal and medical examiner representatives attended the scene on Saturday to find the cause of the fire and confirm the identity of the deceased. “The identity of the deceased person will not be released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are available for release at this stage,” reads a news release from CBRP on Sunday.
