Man’s body recovered from LaHave River, drowning suspected: Bridgewater police

A man is dead following a drowning in the LaHave River in Bridgewater, N.S.

Police in Bridgewater, N.S., say a man’s body has been recovered from the LaHave River.

Bridgewater Police Service, along with fire and ambulance crews, responded to a call of a possible drowning in the river around 11:20 a.m. Monday.

Police asked people to avoid the King Street Court area just before noon due to an “active recovery operation.”

The body of a Lunenburg County man was found during the search with assistance from an underwater drone around 12:40 p.m.

Police believe his death was not criminal in nature and the investigation is being treated as an accidental drowning.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified and will assist with the investigation.
