New Brunswick spends $1.6M to open 15th collaborative care clinic in Southern Victoria

New Brunswick has opened its fifteenth collaborative care clinic, which puts it halfway to its goal of establishing 30 such clinics in the province by the end of 2028.

The Perth-Andover Family Health Team, which is located in Southern Victoria near the border with Maine, is expected to help roughly 870 people seeking a primary care provider within 12-to-18 months.

The team will have five physicians, two nurse practitioners, three registered nurses, two licensed practical nurses, a dietitian, an occupational therapist, a diabetes educator and administrative staff.

The provincial government said it is giving $1.6 million to Horizon Health Network to support the team. Horizon said the team currently serves roughly 11,000 patients.

The government launched 11 collaborative care clinics in 2025 and plans to open 12 more this year. Clinics in Eastern Charlotte, Nackawic-Millville and Saint Andrews were announced earlier this year.

“The creation of the Perth-Andover Family Health Team is a testament to this community and its long-term primary care providers,” said Ashley Calvert, interim vice-president of community for Horizon Health, in a news release. “This team-based care model has already allowed us to attract more primary care providers to this community, and the establishment of this team is a landmark in ensuring sustainable access to health care for generations to come.”
