Drugs worth more than $20,000 seized in Saint John, man facing charges

A man is facing charges after thousands of dollars worth of drugs were seized in Saint John, N.B., last Friday.

The 35-year-old was arrested from a vehicle in connection with a drug trafficking investigation around 2:35 p.m.

Police say they seized the following evidence:

• 10.88 grams of a substance believed to be raw fentanyl
• 51 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl
• 22.94 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine
• a cellphone
• digital scales
• $1,195 in Canadian currency

The total approximate street value of the seized drugs is $21,204, according to a news release from the Saint John Police Force.

Police say the man was arrested for:

• possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
• possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• proceeds of crime under $5,000
• breach of a court order

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court Monday.
