Winnipeg police are investigating a stabbing in downtown Winnipeg that injured a man Wednesday evening. According to police, officers were called to the 200 block of Portage Avenue at 5:45 p.m. for a reported stabbing. When they arrived, a 46-year-old man was found suffering from serious upper-body injuries. The man was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but was later upgraded to stable. The major crimes unit began investigating and determined that the victim was approached and confronted by a group of unknown people, and during the confrontation, the victim was stabbed by one of the suspects with an unknown weapon. The group ran from the scene and the victim went into a nearby business for help. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 204-986-6219.
