What's open and closed in Winnipeg over the Christmas holidays

Christmas is coming up on Wednesday, which means some businesses, services and organizations may be closed or operating at reduced hours for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Here is a list of what’s open and closed from Dec. 24 to 26 in Winnipeg and across the province:

MALLS

Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, it will be closed on Christmas Day and open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Boxing Day.

Kildonan Place will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, the mall will be closed on Christmas Day and will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Boxing Day.

St. Vital Centre will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, it will be closed Christmas Day and open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day.

Garden City Shopping Centre will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, it will be closed on Christmas Day and open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Boxing Day.

CF Polo Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, the mall will be closed on Christmas Day and open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day.

Outlet Collection Winnipeg will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, it will be closed on Christmas Day and open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day.

LIQUOR MARTS

All Winnipeg and Brandon Liquor Marts will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas Day and open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Boxing Day. The only exception is the True North Square location, which will be closed on Boxing Day.

Rural Liquor Marts will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, they will be closed on Christmas Day and open various hours on Boxing Day. The full schedule can be found online.

CITY OF WINNIPEG SERVICES

All civic offices will close on Tuesday at noon and will remain closed all day on Wednesday and Thursday.

Recycling and garbage will not be collected on Christmas Day. If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, put your carts out one day later for this week.

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Brady Road Landfill will be closed Wednesday and open 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot will be closed on Christmas Day and open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Boxing Day.

The Pacific and Panet 4R Winnipeg Depots will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

The following public library branches will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve: Millennium, Bill and Helen Norrie, Charleswood, Harvey Smith, Henderson, Louis Riel, Osborne, Pembina Trail, Transcona, West Kildonan and Windsor Park. All other branches are closed on Tuesday.

All Winnipeg public libraries will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

All arenas are closed from Dec. 25 and will reopen on Jan. 2, except for the Ab McDonald Arena which will be open over winter break. The schedule for casual ice rentals can be found online. 

All indoor pools will close at 11:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve, except for the Transcona Kinsmen Centennial Pool, which will be closed all day. All indoor pools are closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

All fitness and leisure centres will close at 11:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve and will remain closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Animal Services Agency will be open noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, with the open house taking place from noon to 3 p.m. The agency will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Brookside, Transcona and St. Vital cemeteries are open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. However, the administration office at Brookside Cemetery will close on Tuesday at noon and will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Manitoba Museum will be closed Christmas Eve and Day. It will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Boxing Day.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq will be closed Christmas Eve and Day. It will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Boxing Day.
